My Cooking Diary : Tomato Bruschetta

This post is slightly different to any of my previous posts and that is because it is a recipe. Lately I have started to delve into the wonderful world of cooking. I am no master chef in fact I am no chef at all but I have a love for food and an interest in bettering my skills in the kitchen. I thought it might be nice to introduce you into this aspect of my life and make a change from the fashion, beauty related posts. Let me know what you guys think about this?

So anyway I was thinking about about what to make for Lunch the other day and I decided to make something really simple, healthy and equally tasty.

Bruschetta Recipe:

Ingredients:

3 table spoons olive oil

1 tablespoon snipped fresh chives

Half a lemon

1 garlic glove minced

1 tablespoon fresh basil

1 pack of seeded cherry tomatoes

1 whole onion

Salt

Freshly ground black pepper

1 8 Ounce loaf baguette-style French bread (Waitrose actually sell Bruschetta bread already sliced with  12 in the pack which is perfect)

Steps:

Chop the onions finely

Squeeze the half a lemon into a boll and add the onions, tomatoes, chives, garlic, basil and the 3 table spoons of oil. Toss the mixture together, season to taste with the salt. ( I prefer adding the pepper at the end)

Coat the slices of bread with olive oil ( It is good to use a brush to coat the slices)

Place the bread on the grill and leave them for aroudn 2-3 minutes (You only want the bread to be slightly toasted)

To serve, use a slotted spoon to spoon the tomato mixture onto the oiled side of the toast slide. Add the additional basil and black ground pepper.

Maison Martin Margiela collaboration with H&M

Of all the H&M collaborations this is the one I am least excited about. If I am totally honest I do not know what to make of this collection. Maison Martin Margielas pieces are very minimalistic and the main focus is on the intricate cut and shape of the garments.  Having looked through the collection I found three pieces that I really like and have listed below.  What are your thoughts on the collaboration? Is it something you are excited about and have penciled in your diaries? This collaboration will be in stores from November 15th.
Candy Wrapper Clutch | £34.99
Oversized Turtleneck
This turtleneck would look really nice teamed with a pair of knee length boots and a statement coat.

Oversized peacoat, £149.99

Mena Suvari in the trompe l’oeil bra-print top, a skirt and Perspex heel shoes from the Maison Martin Margiela with H&M collection.

Top 10 Winter Must Haves

My winter must haves typically include items I can wear throughout the season and consist of a few staples I will get some good use out of.  I have listed a few of this seasons must have staple pieces that can see you through these cold winter months. I love buying pieces that I can mix and match and that are easy to style. I decided to share with you 10 must have pieces that will be perfect for the colder months of the year.

1) A warm winter coat

2) Statement Faux Fur coat

3) Scarf with some kind of detail or print. A really easy scarf, by easy I mean something that you can throw on with pretty much anything.

4) Leather Pants
Mixing leather with knitwear is a great look for fall and also makes your look a little more edgy.

5) Fingerless gloves - If you have a touch screen phone you will cherish the fact that the gloves are fingerless because it saves you the hassle of having to constantly take them off when your out in the cold.

6) A great pair of ankle boots - They look great with skirts, dresses and jeans. A pair that you can pretty much wear with anything.

7) Hats and lots of them! Hats not only keep you warm but they are a great accessory and add a little extra to your outfit. Personally I love wearing beanies turbans and berets during the winter because they not only keep you warm but also look great.

8) Earmuffs - I know earmuffs are not for everyone but you can really find some cute and chic looking earmuffs. They also really do keep you warm and believe me in London the weather does get really cold around this time of the year.

9) Knitted jumpers - Ones that you can also wear for a night out at a bar or for a drink.
This jumper is gorgeous and I love the back detail. The open back makes the otherwise plain jumper something special. I ordered this jumper from ASOS 2 days ago and I can not wait to receive it.
TIP: This jumper would look great with a big statement necklace. This jumper is really versatile and the open back makes it a little sexier from a regular jumper.

10) Statement necklaces - Personally, when I wear a knitted plain coloured knitted jumper I love to wear a nice statement necklace to add some colour. I am loving the Zara and Topshop necklaces that they have at the moment.

Take a look at the Lookbook I have put together showing you some of
the pieces I am loving for this Winter.

My favourite cleanser and makeup remover for Autumn|Winter 2012

I love it when I find skincare items that really work for me as more often than not this isn't the case. I thought I would share with you some items that I have been loving for some time now.

My skin type:

Normal to dry

It is important to remember that certain products only suit a particular skin type, however this is not the case with all skincare.

1) La Roche Posay Micellar Solution. £11.50 (This product is great for all skin types)

This solution is a high makeup remover in which you use cotton pads soaked in the solution to remove all your makeup including eye makeup. The reason this the La Roche Posay is my favourite of all the micellar solutions I have tried is because I feel it removes my makeup the best,  it is paraben, soap and alcohol free and it is also reasonably priced compared to the same products in this category.
This product can be found here

2) Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm

This cleansing balm is beautifully packaged and feels as luxurious as it looks. The products smells amazing, this could be due to the 7 essential oils included in the product. The texture of the balm is very light with a slight oil feel to it which melts beautifully on the skin.  The way in which you use this cleanser is by taking a small amount of product mixed with water followed by massaging it on to your face. Once this is done you use the Emma Hardie professional cloths to wipe the remainder of the balm off.  The finished result is skin that is left feeling really soft, fresh and clean.  I would not recommend this product for oily skin types only because the product has quite an oily texture to it and the product is geared towards dull, dry, dehydrated and mature skins. You can purchase this product here

Arm Candy Love, Can you ever have too many?

As you can or soon will tell from this post I love bracelets and lots of them. I love layering them and
wearing fun bold colours. I also love that most of them hold a special memory to me or remind me of someone special in my life. Do any of you have any special pieces that you really enjoy wearing? For example the gold flower ring was a present from a recent holiday of mine and a bracelet I tend to wear a lot was
given to me by my mother so they are really special to me.

Gold spike cuff available here

Below I have included a selection of bracelets that I am loving right now including 2 which I have featured above.

Please leave a comment, I love reading and seeing what you have to say x

The Cute Little Red Dress

I had been uming and aring about this dress for a long time. I first saw it in Topshop a few months ago and remember thinking to myself how much  I liked it. I find that I often like far tooooo many things so I didn't think much of it. To cut a long story short I did end up buying the dress and I am really glad that I did. The cut and fit of the dress is really great and it is a really comfy dress in that it doesn't cling anywhere.

Layering up for the Winter Suggestion:

To make this dress more wearable during the winter months I would team it with some knitted tights and flats for a day look or wear the dress with a big knitted jumper over the top.

For a night time look I would probably wear some boots and a big warm coat.

So what do you guys think? I have seen quite a few dresses with the same shape as this one and I am tempted in purchasing another...

You can get my dress here and it is only £20 now!  Topshop Boutique shoes, Chanel bag
Zara Gilet, Lavand Boutique accessories available on ASOS Marketplace.

Introducing you to my mini satchel Fall Look 3

Hi all,

So its official, there will be no sun of any kind for us in the UK for a good few months, sad face. As I mentioned in a previous post I have been looking at getting a few pieces for the upcoming season and one item I found which I fell in love with instantly was this soft pink jacket featured in this look. The jacket is from H&M Trend and it is a fleecy woollen material and it is really warm. I also mentioned to you all that I REALLY do feel the cold so I was pleased that this jacket will keep me warm.

I am also thinking to do a few posts on key jackets/coats  for Fall | Autumn what do you think?

Fall Lookbook Outfit 2

Hey guys,

This look is perfect for the fall however I would probably team this outfit with my khaki military jacket for some extra warmth and to give this look more edge. I will definitely do more outfit posts featuring my military jacket as I think it is such a great piece to have for the Fall and can be really versatile.

I hope you are all having a great week.
